I was born and raised in South Jersey and attended Middlebury College for my undergraduate degree. Afterward I spent some years in Vermont working for a snowboard company and a year around Boston helping friends open a brewery while I applied to grad school.

I went to the University of Pennsylvania for my PhD and taught at Bryn Mawr College following graduation. After seven years in Philadelphia, I moved to Myrtle Beach to take up a post at Coastal Carolina University.

When I’m not working I try to get outside as much as possible, ideally on snow in the winter and on a bike in all other seasons. I also enjoy playing music and going to shows. In sports, I support the Philly teams and, for some reason, Everton FC.

Here’s an interview I did a little while ago for the Blog of the APA.

All photos on this site, except the one on this page, were taken by me. This one was taken by my sister, I think.
